This place also holds the record for the highest gust wind recorded on the earth's surface - at 231 mph (372 km/h) on the afternoon of April 12, 1934. But on a any given day, you can feel the wind gusting anywhere between 50 - 70 mph.

Given the notoriously erratic and unpredictable the weather up there, we couldn't make it to the top of the summit on that day. It was 15F (-9.5C) at 11AM in the morning and the wind chill making it 5F (-15C)

The photo of the seasons with the snow covered peak on the left side, the fall foliage in the valley and the clear bright sky was shot using a Nikon D50 with the standard Nikkor 18-55 lens.

Image Format: NEF (RAW) - converted to JPEG for web
Processed Using: Nikon Picture Project
Aperture: f/10
Shutter: 1/400
Focal Length: 18mm

Information Source: WikipediaUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917253260580249183.post-35005112613629511962009-10-18T11:37:00.002-04:002009-10-19T06:46:36.560-04:00Fall Colors - NH

Fall Colors 2009

Photo taken using a Nikon D50 with the standard Nikkor 18-55 lens on a pit stop in the Kangamagus Highway in New Hampshire.

Image Format: NEF (RAW) - converted to JPEG for web
Processed: Nikon Picture Project
Aperture: f/5.6
Shutter: 1/125
Focal Length: 18mmUnknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917253260580249183.post-73505297048484074892009-10-15T21:31:00.003-04:002009-10-19T06:47:02.440-04:00The Lily Pond

The Lily Pond

Photo taken using a Nikon D50 with the standard Nikkor 18-55 lens on a pit stop in the Kangamagus Highway in New Hampshire.
